2024 Ford Explorer Redesign, Release Date, Interior – One of the first and most recognizable brands in the SUV industry, the Ford Explorer has existed since 1991. The Explorer, now in its seventh edition, maintains excellent sales numbers and offers many trims, great engine choices, and every practicality you desire. The Explorer has a powerful V6 engine with 400 horsepower or a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower.
Also available is a hybrid variant with 318 horsepower. In the first two rows, the Explorer has plenty of room inside, and it has a long list of great features, including Ford’s great SYNC 3 infotainment. It rides on Ford’s relatively new CD6 rear-/all-wheel-drive chassis, which also supports the Lincoln Aviator, giving it a solid balance between ride and handling.
The rivals of the upcoming 2024 Ford Explorer SUV haven’t been sitting back either. A Honda Pilot, Toyota Highland, and the Hyundai Palisade are well-known competitors in Ford’s midsize SUV class, which also features some fantastic newcomers like the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Exterior Design
This same 2024 Ford Explorer is still stylish and more attractive than many competing mid-sizers. The base model comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a power liftgate, automated LED headlights featuring high auto beams, and LED taillamps as standard external features. The XLT adds standard LED lighting, side rails for the black roof rack, and a grill with chrome bars and a black mesh insert.
The Limited has slick aluminum roof rails, the ST receives a special blackout coating on the ongori and taillights, and the Silver rides on a collection of 21-inch Bright billet aluminum wheels with Brilliance Nickel-painted pockets. The ST-Line adds equipment like rain-sensing window wipers.

In addition to model-specific and front rear bumpers, steel mud plates at the front and back, Red Ember tow hooks, a deep Carbonized Gray grill, gloss-black 18-inch alloy wheels, quad tailpipes, and Timberland emblems on the C-pillar, the off-road-focused Timberline gets distinctive aesthetics. The King Ranch receives 20-inch alloy wheels, King Ranch badging, Stone Gray cloth grille inserts, and chrome bodyside cladding.
Interior Design
When you first enter the interior of the 2024 Ford Explorer, there isn’t much to be thrilled about. Like the body of the automobile, the design is simple and practical. Still, we can enjoy how the controls are organized logically and how the modern aesthetic gives the design a hint of sophistication. The cabin does feel spacious, and there is a good view everywhere. Comforts, including tri-zone automatic air-con, a power driver’s seat, and the Sync 3 navigation system, are standard on all Explorer models.

Although the inside isn’t the most extravagant we’ve ever seen, it still looks excellent and serves its purpose, which is precisely what Explorer is about. On the other hand, Ford has missed the memo that chassis crossovers are not intended to be rugged workhorses. Many of the inside materials could be better quality than expected, given the price of upper trims, and many of them seem cheap and flimsy.

No 2024 Ford Explorer models in the inventory are underpowered, which is good news in terms of performance. A dual 3.0-liter V6 engine or a turbocharged 2.3-liter 4 machine, similar to the Mustang, are both used to generate power. The Ford SUV’s naturally aspirated V6 hybrid model is another choice for those seeking a more environmentally friendly vehicle. The base model generates a respectable 300 horsepower plus 310 lb-ft of torque, so plenty of power is available either way.

The ST isn’t any longer the sole option if you’re concerned about performance; this year, the King Ranch & Platinum grades receive its turbocharger 3.0-liter Vehicle with a robust 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft with torque (it had this engine with 365 horsepower/380 lb-ft last year). With such advanced technology, these vehicles seem commensurately speedy, with a 0-60 time of about 5.5 seconds or a max speed of more than 140 mph; some outside ST tests have yielded even faster results.
In this arrangement, the Ford Explorer can tow 5,600 lbs, but 2.3-liter vehicles are only capable of 5,300 lbs. The hybrid gets by with a towing capability of 5,000 kg, which is significantly less. Except for the Timberline version, which can only be combined with a 4WD system, other models can be coupled with either a rear- or 4-drive system.

The price difference between the basic trim and the top-of-the-line Platinum for the 2024 Ford Explorer is a whopping $20,000! Excluding tax, license, and a $1,495 destination cost, the base model is a mere $36,760. The MSRP of the XLT is $38,570, while that of the new ST-Line is $46,005, and the Limited’s is a hefty $47,070. A ford Fusion Explorer costs an extra $2,000 more if AWD is added to one of these four-cylinder versions.
